Summary: Avery Grambs has a plan for a better future: survive high school, win a scholarship, and get out. But her fortunes change in an instant when billionaire Tobias Hawthorne dies and leaves Avery virtually his entire fortune. The catch? Avery has no idea why — or even who Tobias Hawthorne is.
To receive her inheritance, Avery must move into sprawling, secret passage-filled Hawthorne House, where every room bears the old man’s touch — and his love of puzzles, riddles, and codes. Unfortunately for Avery, Hawthorne House is also occupied by the family that Tobias Hawthorne just dispossessed. This includes the four Hawthorne grandsons: dangerous, magnetic, brilliant boys who grew up with every expectation that one day, they would inherit billions.
Heir apparent Grayson Hawthorne is convinced that Avery must be a conwoman, and he’s determined to take her down. His brother, Jameson, views her as their grandfather’s last hurrah: a twisted riddle, a puzzle to be solved. Caught in a world of wealth and privilege, with danger around every turn, Avery will have to play the game herself just to survive.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2
My Thoughts: This series was so fun to read. I loved all the secrets and games and mystery. The world building at the House was so much fun to read. All the secret tunnels and hidden compartments.
I think my favorite character overall was Xander. He treated Avery the best and was always trying to put everyone else in a good mood.
I loved the connection Avery had with Harry and how that all played out throughout the books. Another mystery and secret to figure out. But, it was such a good one, in my opinion.
I loved Grayson in book 1. He started off somewhat unlikeable, but came around very quickly. I really liked Jameson in book 2. I dislike both of them in book because of how they treated A very, especially after all the events of books 1 and 2.
Overall, I really enjoyed this series and can't wait for The Brothers Hawthorne to come out.
